My best friend, the Web

You know, when I ask the right questions, the Web will sometimes give me what I need. Three and a half years after I blogged about a song I was trying to track down (Radioactivity), I have located the song. Turns out, I had the name of the group wrong. They were the Laser Cowboys and now I'm intrigued about their other songs. Unfortunately, the one cd I see with all their songs is only available in Russia. So after searching around for awhile, I ordered the 12" from Germany. I hope it gets here in two weeks, like they say it will. The Chernobyl anniversary is what reminded me that I never located the record. I'm glad I found the song because I was about to take a long shot and email WMHC's MD to ask if she could locate it and help an alumna out.

Speaking of alumae (and this one's really a link for batty), I noticed that a former pen pal of mine (who ended up going to my college) is now on MySpace.

While searching for the Laser Cowboys, Webby gave me some fun sites with lists of songs with the atomic, nuclear or nuclear war themes, which was a bonus. Webby is so thoughtful.

In 1990, I made a cassette of songs with nuclear/environmental health disaster themes. I should dig it out and see if I can create that as a podcast now. I will have to substitute recent songs for the ones I don't have anymore (digitizing a second generation tape copy would not be easy on your ears).

Has anyone else noticed that Ladytron's newest album sounds a bit like Curve?

Webby has also helped me to locate a sterling silver 45 rpm record insert pendant. It's pretty nice. I also found Greg Week's Made mp3. I'm really fond of the pink adicolor ad (I'm sure you've all seen it around blogland already). Red and Green are funny, too.

Just a wee update on 5.10.2006: got the record and it's just as good as I remember. Having a nostalgia fest right now!
