Is it time to go home yet?

I'm tired and there's still another day of work to get through.

Coastal Flats is supposedly open. We might check it out for sweetie's birthday. We wanted to check out Restaurant Week in DC but looks like we might be too late for reservations. We'll see.

I have to admit that I spent the better part of an hour perusing the No VA Restaurant Inspection reports. I am happy to say that most places we eat did not have many problems. The violations weren't life-threatening, that is. I also found out why Rene's Supper Club (which always looks closed) has a "Polynesian" theme. Rene Ibanez is Filipino. The food doesn't look particularly interesting.

I made my own yogurt. Did I say that already? I have completely forgotten what I've written previously and I'm too lazy to look. Anyway, it's yummy.

OMG. I might just have to catch The Village People!

Spezie (www.spezie.com) as of yesterday still had reservations available for this Friday...

I love that you filed this as pootie.
You're making your own yogurt and thinking about going to see the Village People.
Should I worry about this? It sounds like a weird combo...

I give up. I looked at their website and can't figure it out - if Rene's have a Polynesian theme - why is Rene Ibanez wearing a native American headdress? And does he own Rene's?
*confused*

Wait wait - Rene also dresses like a cowboy.
I suppose because he sings some country songs?
Now I'm really confused.

Yep, we waited too late to try and get reservations so Spezie it is. And I don't think anyone left was taking reservations for parties over 4 in size. I have eaten there before for a work function so I know it is wonderful but I wanted to try someplace new.

Karon and Greg: Spezie sounds great. We were definitely too late to get reservations (we wanted to try Corduroy, Mourayo or Ceiba). Oh well, we'll check them out at a later date anyway. I think we're going to try Coastal Flats tonight, if it is indeed open.

Bat - Yes, Rene owns Rene's and he performs there every Saturday evening. It's right across the street from one of our favorite restaurants (Artie's) but we never see any cars there. I have no idea why he wears the Plains Indian headdress nor the country get-up. Best as I can tell, he fancies his place his very own Vegas nightclub...

And how can I pass up a chace to see the aging Village People? It's free, after all. Sweetie groaned when I mentioned it. Actually, I'm pretty sure my parents will groan as well.

Randomly, my intern is going abroad for the whole year in three weeks - to Vietnam and then New Zealand. It's making my passport wistful. Heh.
