Note to self

Take tourist Metro. You won't be crossing that street any time soon.

I crossed the street just before they slid the last barriers in place - hours earlier than they scheduled. No one will be crossing Constitution today. There is no way around the barrier - at least not between 23rd and the Capitol. The SI stop is going to be mass chaos because all the tourists and all the workers must use one small, inadequate station. I shudder at the thought.

They gave us the afternoon off because of the road closure but anyone driving in can't get into the parking lot because of the barricades (which was a surprise), so even though the parking lot exit is in the clear (dumps out onto a different road), there is no access to the entrance.

I feel bad for anyone who got off at our closest station and found that to get to work they'd have to get back on the Metro and go to the next stop. Another $1.20 wasted. Today will be a big headache for those working around here.

Oh, and Happy Kamehameha Day!!
