Curator Emeritus, Jon B. Eklund, died Friday, September 26, in Buffalo, NY. Funeral services will be at the Delaware Avenue Chapel of the Amigone Funeral Home in Buffalo on Wednesday, October 1, with viewing from 11am-1pm, and a service at 1pm, followed by internment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
I am unsurprised although saddened. I realized over the weekend that he had probably died and accepted it. I can't go to the funeral, as I am lecturing to a class of undergraduates that day, but I wish I had seen him the last time he visited. He was an amazing man, all of you would have loved him.
At least he's got some good company in his Psychic Departure Lounge: George Plimpton (is he the great uncle of Martha? I just found our her father is Keith Carradine, her mother is a Plimpton), Robert Palmer, VOA editor Harold Kamenske. They should have lots to talk about while waiting for that receptionist to call their names. ;)
( 10:48 FH | melancholy. )And you were just thinking of him too.
I was sad over Robert Palmer.
I wish they'd played more Power Station - I still think that was a fun album. Though I'm still a fan of Looking for Clues. Only had that on cassette though.
I'm so sorry, Bunny....
I'm still sad about Gregory Heines. I was watching a Will & Grace rerun the other night that had him in it...I still can't wrap my brain around him being gone. :o/
